We're All Gonna Die

Frank found beauty in urban decay (as do I) but I also find beauty in the diversity of the human race, as captured in Simon Høgsberg's new project; We're All Gonna Die.

Wii Fail

Whilst it does look a little funny, after a little contemplation, it does look awfully fake...

Model Auckland

Tilt-shift miniature faking is a process in which a photograph of a life-size location or object is manipulated so that it looks like a photograph of a miniature scale model. By distorting the focus of the photo, the artist simulates the shallow depth of field normally encountered with macro lenses making the scene seem much smaller than it actually is. Many miniature faked photographs are taken from a high angle to further simulate the effect of looking down on a miniature. Not all photos make good source material for faking as you can see by some of my images above.

World War 2 photos are even less suitable, as you can see here.

The effect looks better if you click on the images to make them bigger.

Favourite Things Friday

Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare is the best First Person Shooter ever. Period. No arguments. My XBox live time is split between this game - released in 2007 - and GRID which was released late last year. Admittedly, without the online play I would have traded it in a while back!

Ashamed of our own Nakedness

Condemnation is the fuel of modern western society, it's the driving force of who we are. It's propagated by the media and driven into our homes by our self embraced consumerist culture. We are condemned for being too fat, for wearing the wrong cloths for having an old car, for owning the wrong computer. Condemnation is what drives us to become consumers, but consuming only makes us more ashamed of who we are.

Why do we continually believe the lies that created us to be ashamed of our own nakedness?

Favourite Things Friday

Ok, so I'm going to try and keep this blog up dated a little more, and what better way then the challenge of Favourite Things Friday? So first up is an essential part of my nerdy/geekyness, Flames of War wargaming (and modeling and painting!).

Hat tip to Dee for the Favourite Things Friday concept!

To live.

The word living, when spoken rightly, carries with it a hint of anger, a sense of awe. To live is a courageous act.

And I find it kind of funny...

All around me are familiar faces
Worn out places, worn out faces
Bright and early for their daily races
Going nowhere, going nowhere
Their tears are filling up their glasses
No expression, no expression
Hide my head I want to drown my sorrow
No tomorrow, no tomorrow
And I find it kind of funny
I find it kind of sad
The dreams in which I'm dying
Are the best I've ever had
I find it hard to tell you
I find it hard to take
When people run in circles
It's a very, very
Mad World
Mad world
Children waiting for the day they feel good
Happy Birthday, Happy Birthday
And I feel the way that every child should
Sit and listen, sit and listen
Went to school and I was very nervous
No one knew me, no one knew me
Hello teacher tell me what's my lesson
Look right through me, look right through me
And I find it kind of funny
I find it kind of sad
The dreams in which I'm dying
Are the best I've ever had
I find it hard to tell you
I find it hard to take
When people run in circles
It's a very, very
Mad World
Mad World
Enlarging your world
Mad World.

Can you guess what movie I watched tonight?
